A BETTER FUTURE WITH ASHA

All Sanghar Handicaps Association (ASHA) is working for achieving basic rights of Person With Disabilities in a rural area district Sanghar of Sindh province in Pakistan.

Person With Disabilities (PWDs) in Pakistan face severe difficulties and discrimination in all aspects of their lives, in large part because of the conservative ideas, high illiteracy rate, non-availability of laws, being a developing country etc.

Their options for employment are restricted on 2% quota on announced vacancies and they are not eligible for higher positions in jobs.

Because of non-accessibility they are deprived even from their voting rights.

In rural areas of Pakistan the conditions of PWDs become worse.

The conditions of Women With Disabilities (WWDs) are Worse.

Women in Pakistan also are subjected to the worst kinds of discrimination, this community killed and tortured in the name of honor.

We are doing all we can to raise conciousness of the needs and challenges of PWDs in our neighborhoods and are conferencing with PWDs from all over the world to promote equal access worldwide.

You can learn more about the challenges and activities of People With Disabilitiess in our part of the world in the No. 5 - February 2004 newsletter at the Disabled Peoples' International website.
