Low Power Community FM

NewsThe LPFM for Goldendale community radio group has been granted a sub-domain here at GorgeLink.Org to use for planning and scheduling programs, and whatever else they can do with a dotProject install along with a blog, a public wiki and a non-public wiki space running in parallel in one sub-domain.

An application for FCC approval for a construction permit for a 100 watt Low Power FM community radio station for Goldendale was filed on the FCC website by Cory Eberhart and Kathy O’Brennan on October 23, 2013.

Listed as legal applicant for the station is the 501(c)3 organization Community Enrichment for Klickitat County (CEKC- pronounced “seek”). Web page for CEKC can be found at http://www.cekcwa.org/.

The group is eagerly waiting to find out their frequency and call letters from the FCC and currently working on scheduling material for several hours of Christmas programming to podcast if they cannot broadcast by Christmas day.

The name of the sub-domain is fm98620lp.gorgelink.org, and if there are other community radio groups in the gorge I would be interested in giving them a sub-domain fm(zip code number)lp as well.  Email the GorgeLink webmaster to apply.

The application to construct a 100 watt LPFM station in Goldendale has been approved.  The group is currently going over the remaining call sign letter combos that are available for choosing, so the station has no formal name just yet.

Cory, from PastureGolf.com, has been working on a site for the effort as well, so http://pasturegolf.com/lpfm/ is a good source of fresh news on the group's progress, too.  Maybe even the best for freshness all around.

Coming at you at 100.1 on the 98620-zone radio dial soon will be KVGD, the Goldendale Community FM station.

More spaces in the cloud for station planning and production are the Pods 'n' PSAs archive over at ThunderPaw Records and a space for the creatives and committees to hang out, from Ekone Creative Services.
