About Our Freebooks Project
This project was started to provide a free internet zone where the infoseekers and content creators can meet and share through a freely available Public CyberLibrary.
Our goal is to provide
- access that is availble across browsers and platforms
- content that is available for perusal in
- online (reading room) formats
- portable (downloadable) formats
- links to online services of interest to ebook authors and enthusiasts
While this site started out as a collection of ebooks in Windows[tm] Exe format, it now features other formats as well. So no matter what your operating system feel free to browse around.
Our newest project is our bookshelf program, which is a sort of online bookcase comprised of bookshelf pages folks have on their personal websites to encourage reading online.
We have begun working on a project to help build a learning center for orphans, widows in Pakistan on a "pay it forward" basis. We are donating an honorary GorgeLink membership to the Candle Learning Center NGO. In exchange for their website they will be helping Project Gutenberg by translating texts of their choice into Urdu.
The basic page design for this site was created by StrangeBanana - a program that creates a random webpage design using CSS each time you refresh the generator page.
